There's a new funk band in town, doing all female-fronted funk for an inaugural show on International Women's Day. This ensemble is full of heavy Edmonton women musos, including Sheena Misenas on vocals, Audrey Ochoa on trombone and vocals, Mo Lefever on guitar, Shantal Koenig on bass, Holly Sangster on sax and vocals. Fred Brenton is outnumbered on drums. This'll be a fun night. Stay tuned for ticket details.

Edmonton's one and only New Orleans-style piano monster Rooster Davis has put together a killer band for this Mardi Gras celebration. I couldn't be more pleased to be singing backups and a few leads, and to be tapping Rooster out on the piano for a few tunes so he can hop onto the B3.

Tickets are $7. (Basically nothing!)

The Dreamcar rocks Blues every Wednesday night, from 8pm to midnight. This week irresistible Newfoundlander Chad Murphy is back on guitar, after a few months touring the whole dang country, whirlwind-style, with his long locks blowing behind him. Cover is $5 at the door. As our pal Scott Cook says, "Magic or your money back."

The Dreamcar rocks Blues every Wednesday. This week we've got stellar and stylish time-keeper Brendan Lyons on drums, and the truly tasty and seriously shreddy Stew Kirkwood on guitar. Cover is $5 at the door. Make-you-want-to-dance pixie dust included with the price of admission. (I'm not talkin' 'bout drugs; I'm talkin' 'bout magic.)
